Modular solar-powered health centers for the Democratic Republic of Congo

In parts of the DRC, the nearest hospital is 50–100 km away — a 6 to 12 hour journey over roads that barely exist.

Only 1 in 4 rural health centers here has access to clean water. Fewer than half have reliable electricity. When Ebola resurfaced in Équateur province, 80% of deaths happened not because there was no cure — but because there was no way to detect it early, isolate a patient, or get them to help in time.

What We're Building

We are creating a fully autonomous modular health center that runs on solar power and harvested rainwater — no dependence on the grid, no dependence on distance.

One center. One small trained team. Three things it does at once:

• Emergency care — trauma, safe childbirth, malaria treatment
• Early Ebola detection — mandatory entry triage and a dedicated isolation bay
• Patient stabilization — a transit ward that keeps critical patients alive during the long wait for evacuation

Why It Matters

Once operational, the center will serve up to 50 patients per day within a 30 km radius. After the pilot, we plan to scale to 10–20 centers across the most vulnerable provinces — Équateur, Ituri, and North Kivu.
